On Court: 4-star recruit on TR.net who ranked as high as No.120 in his class....played on Westview HS team for four years, reaching CIF Finals as junior...favorite tournament in juniors was the Claremont B14s National Open where he finished third in singles and won the doubles...also part of an Under 14 National Junior Team Tennis championship team out of San Diego...also plays National and Sectional Father-Son tournaments with father Solomon who is a teaching pro...as a freshman made his debut as one of four first-year Stags players at the ITA West Regionals...was seeded fifth in singles and reached the Round of 16, before losing an epic 6-7(4), 6-2, 7-6(3) battle to new teammate Oscar Burney...also seeded fifth in doubles and paired with sophomore Daniel Park, reaching the quarters before bowing out to top seeds Dugan-Stone from UCSC... injuries to hand and lower extremities delayed his spring dual match debut until March 30 against UC Santa Cruz and Chapman, where he won at No. 6 singles and No. 1 doubles respectively...played in four additional singles duals, staying undefeated and earning important wins against Gustavus, Pomona-Pitzer, and UC San Diego...played in 13 doubles duals with four different partners - Park, Williams, Yeam and Berber...was 11-2 in doubles dual matches, with seven wins at No. 3 with Park...finished 2018 with overall records of 7-1 in singles and 13-3 in doubles...also one of five Stags to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete and SCIAC All-Academic honors for his outstanding academic work...as a sophomore reached the quarters of the Flight A singles at the ITA West Regionals, falling in two close sets to eventual champ Chad LeDuff of UC Santa Cruz...partnered Jake Williams in doubles, and the pair reached the semis before bowing out to eventual champs Shankar and Wei of Caltech...returned in the spring for dual match play at No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles with Katzman...won five of first six singles matches before hitting his stride in Stag-Hen Championship match at No. 4 singles against Bowdoin where he dropped only one game, earning him SCIAC Athlete of the Week honors for March 18...also had impressive straight set wins in March against Amherst, Williams and Middlebury...during April and May lost only two singles matches to complete an 18-7 overall singles record, including 16-6 in duals...teamed up with Katzman at No. 2 doubles and won their first nine dual matches before dropping four of six during a stretch when they transitioned to the top position...finished the season winning twelve straight before a loss to Emory in the NCAA Championship match, partnering Williams, Burney, and Park in addition to Katzman...finished 28-6 overall and 23-5 in duals...earned 2nd Team All-SCIAC honors for his excellence in conference play.
