CLAREMONT, Calif. - The 2016 CMS Men’s Cross Country team had a tough battle to win its fifth straight SCIAC title, finishing with 47 points to edge both Pomona-Pitzer (51) and Whittier (52). All three SCIAC teams qualified for the NCAA Championships, and there the Stags really shined, recording the top finish in program history by coming in fifth place, well ahead of Pomona-Pitzer in 17th and Whittier in 23rd.
CLAREMONT, Calif. - The CMS men’s cross country team won its sixth SCIAC title in a row in 2001, a streak which would be extended to seven the following year. The cap to the 2001 season, though, was the impressive part as senior David Juiliano earned the highest finish in program history at nationals, coming in second place a the NCAA Division III Championships to earn All-America honors.
CLAREMONT, Calif. - The CMS Men’s Cross Country program has 17 SCIAC titles to its credit now, and is perennially one of the top contenders for the league crown. It was the 1989 squad that broke through for the first one, though, and laid the groundwork for the future success.
CLAREMONT, Calif. - As a member of the first Claremont Men's College graduating class that competed for four years in their own athletic department as Stags (never as Sagehens), Ed Laughton established an early standard for the program’s distance runners that would not be matched for some time.
