CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps athletic department lost one of its groundbreaking legends on Jan. 13, as Hall of Famer Ernie Smith (CMC ’56) passed away at the age of 87, leaving behind an impressive legacy both locally at CMS and nationally in the sport of track and field.

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Seniors Thomas D'Anieri and Wilson Ives were both chosen to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 8 Men's Cross Country/Track and Field team in a vote of the district's sports information directors, and will be eligible for Academic All-America honors announced later this month.

CLAREMONT, Calif. – Senior women’s tennis player Catherine Allen and senior men’s tennis player Nikolai Parodi earned the 2019-20 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Female and Male Athlete of the Year Awards in a vote of the department’s 17 head coaches and administrative personnel.

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The ten seniors on the CMS men's track and field team went out as champions, winning the SCIAC title a year ago after being picked fourth in the preseason poll. They had their sights set on making it back-to-back titles their senior year, but had that goal cut short by the suspension of spring sports.

CLAREMONT, Calif. - After 36 seasons as the head coach of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps cross country programs, as well as 26 years as the head coach and 10 years as an assistant coach of the CMS track and field programs, John Goldhammer has announced his retirement, effective at the end of the academic year.

CLAREMONT, Calif. - After initially being announced as an alternate, senior Walker Quinn earned an invitation to the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships this week after another competitor withdrew, and he will head to Winston Salem, N.C. to compete this weekend in the pole vault.

WHITTIER, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's track and field team began defense of its 2019 SCIAC title with a dominant performance at its first league event of the 2020 season, winning 14 of the 19 events in a five-team multi-dual at Whittier, which also included Chapman, Occidental and Caltech on Saturday.
