Keizo Morgan Finishes Fifth in 800 at Jacksons/Nike Invitational
BOISE, Idaho - Sophomore Keizo Morgan earned an impressive fifth-place finish in the 800 meters out of 27 competitors on the second day of the Jacksons/Nike Boise Indoor Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Boise State University.
Morgan finished the race in 1:57.74, placing fifth overall and fourth among collegiate competitors. Senior Walker Quinn also picked up a top-10 finish in the pole vault for the Stags, earning eighth with a top vault of 15'9", as all four of the Stags who made the trip to Boise ended up in the top 10 in their top events.
On Friday, first-years Christian Campbell and Nick Ong were ninth and 10th in the 60-meter dash, missing qualifying for the Saturday finals by the tiniest of margins. Campbell's 7.05 seconds actually tied for eighth, but Jaron Carter of Northwest Christian edged him out in the thousandths of a second decimal to earn the eighth spot in the finals. Ong, meanwhile was only .03 behind with a 7.08 finish in 10th place.
Campbell and Ong also both won their heats in the 200 meters on Friday, finishing 15th and 36th overall, respectively.
CMS will be back in action next weekend when it crosses Sixth Street to compete in the Pomona-Pitzer All-Comers Meet before returning home for the annual Rossi Relays on Saturday, Feb. 22.
