Five out of seven fall teams play in the postseason

CMS’ women’s volleyball, men’s cross country, women’s cross country, women’s soccer, men’s soccer and men’s water polo teams each had its fall seasons extended by virtue of qualifying for postseason competition.

An action-packed several months ahead for winter and spring sports

During the four-plus weeks of February, 14 of CMS’ 21 teams are in action, with the winter sports (basketball and swimming & diving) and spring sports (baseball, golf, tennis, track & field, women’s lacrosse, softball and women’s water polo) seasons overlapping.

The Stags wrapped up their second-consecutive season with a 7-2 record, and at 5-2 in SCIAC, placed second in the conference standings behind the 7-0 Redlands Bulldogs.

Ranked No. 2 in all of Division III for much of the season in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) top-25 poll, the Athenas had another stellar year. CMS captured its fourth-straight 20-win season and NCAA Tournament appearance.

For the eighth-straight season, the Stags made an appearance in the finals of the SCIAC Championships. CMS had an 8-3 conference record in 2016, 16-16 overall.
