Volleyball season recap

Ranked No. 2 in all of Division III for much of the season in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) top-25 poll, the Athenas had another stellar year. CMS captured its fourth-straight 20-win season and NCAA Tournament appearance. The Athenas were 23-4 overall and 14-2 in SCIAC play to tie for the conference regular-season championship. After a runner-up finish in the conference tournament, Colorado College knocked CMS out of the first round of the NCAA Tournament with a 3-1 decision. Junior Mikena Werner (SCR ’18) made the AVCA All-America second team, while junior Shelbi Stein (CMC ’18) and senior Nicole Kerkhof (CMC ’17) were All-America honorable mention selections.
