Athenas Score Academic Team and Individual Honors From IWLCA

Four Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's lacrosse players have been selected to the 2018 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Zag Sports Division III Academic Honor Roll for the 2017-18 academic year. In addition, the Athenas as a team posted over a 3.0 grade-point average and were selected as an IWLCA Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad.

Uhr Named IWLCA DIII West Region Lacrosse Coach of the Year

As a result of leading the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's lacrosse team to a record-breaking 2018 season, head coach Lauren Uhr has been selected as the Division III West Region Coach of the Year by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA).

Evan Murphy was named a Second Team All-American by the IWLCA on Wednesday.

The Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) announced today their All-America teams for the 2018 season. Evan Murphy (CMC) earned her first All-America accolade with a Second Team nod capping off a stellar senior season in Claremont. Murphy’s All-American honor comes on the heels of a First Team All-Region, First Team All-SCIAC, and SCIAC Defender of the Year selections. The do-it-all midfielder led the Athenas with 81 points.

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athletics is ranked third in the 2017-18 Division III Learfield Directors’ Cup standings, the program’s highest finish ever. This is the second-straight year that CMS has finished in the top-5 in the country.

Murphy and Hack Headline Four All-Region Selections

On Thursday morning, the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) announced their NCAA Division III All-Region teams. Among the 286 student-athletes honored nationally, were four Athenas. Corie Hack (CMC) and Evan Murphy (CMC) garnered First Team West Region honors with Allie Hill (CMC) and Sally Abel (CMC) earning Second Team accolades in the West Region. The recognition comes a week after the 2018 season came to an end in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament.

Athenas Bow Out of NCAA Tourney to Tigers in Second Round

May 13, 2018

For the second-straight season, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s lacrosse team bowed out of the NCAA Tournament in the Second Round with a loss against the Colorado College Tigers. The Athenas fell by a 17-13 final score on Sunday afternoon in Colorado Springs. CMS went down early, but battled back and made it a one-goal game at the half, but the Tigers pulled away in the second-half to earn the victory and advance to the Third Round of the Tournament.

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s lacrosse team will put their 18-game winning streak on the line on Sunday afternoon in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament when the Athenas travel to Colorado College for a rematch of last season’s NCAA Second Round. Thanks to their 18-game winning streak, the Athenas earned a bye through the First Round of the Tournament and will square off with the Tigers in Colorado Springs, Colo. on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. MT/12:00 p.m. PT.

For the 10th-straight year and 30th time in program history, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athletic Department claimed the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s Combined All-Sports Trophy. The Athenas earned 94 points this season and won the All-Sports Trophy on the women’s side by a 19-point margin, claiming their eighth-straight and 23rd overall. The Stags finished third in the standings on the men’s side with 65.5 points. Pomona-Pitzer won the men’s All-Sports Trophy.

The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) released Sunday the bracket for the Division III Women's Lacrosse Tournament, and the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athenas earned a bye through the First Round of the NCAA Tournament, and will oppose the Colorado College Tigers in the Second Round on Sunday for the second year in a row.

Athenas Dominate Sagehens, Win 2018 SCIAC Tournament Title

The wins just keep on coming for the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's lacrosse team. On a hot Saturday afternoon, the Athenas added the 2018 SCIAC Tournament Championship to their collection with a 17-5 victory over the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens on Zinda Field. With the victory, CMS claims their second-straight SCIAC Tournament Title and extends their winning streak to 18-straight games.

The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced the Women's Lacrosse All-Conference team on Friday afternoon. Among the student-athletes named were eight Athenas, including the SCIAC Offensive and Defensive Athletes of the Year. Corie Hack (CMC) was named the conference's Offensive Athlete of the Year and Evan Murphy (CMC) was tabbed as the Defensive Athlete of the Year. In addition to the eight athletes named All-SCIAC, head coach Lauren Uhr was honored as the SCIAC Coach of the Year.

Top-Seeded Athenas Thrash Panthers, Advance to SCIAC Championship

The top-seeded Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s lacrosse team flexed their muscle in the SCIAC Semifinals against Chapman, earning a 17-6 victory on Saturday afternoon to advance to next weekend’s SCIAC Championship. The Athenas took a 12-3 lead at the half before cruising to an 11-goal victory. Seven different Athenas scored in the victory, with Corie Hack (CMC) and Evan Murphy (CMC) lead the team with four goals each. In addition to her four goals, Murphy dished out three assists to help the Athenas to their second-straight SCIAC Championship game.

Top Seeded Women's Lacrosse Set to Begin SCIAC Tourney

The No. 22 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s lacrosse team has won 16-straight games, including a 10-0 mark in the SCIAC this season. The Athenas locked up their fourth regular season SCIAC Championship this season and have earned the top seed in the SCIAC Tournament that begins on Saturday morning when CMS hosts the Chapman Panthers at 11:00 a.m. in the SCIAC Semifinals. The Athenas defeated the Panthers by scores of 18-9 and 21-2 in their two meetings during the regular season.

Women's Lacrosse Gets Tricky in Regular Season Finale

The No. 22 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athenas wrapped up the regular season on Saturday with a 21-2 victory over the Chapman Panthers on the road. CMS spread the scoring around with five different players recording hat tricks on the afternoon and a total of 10 Athenas scoring goals in the game. Corie Hack (CMC), Evan Murphy (CMC), Hannah Graves (CMC), Sally Carlson (CMC), and Sally Abel (CMC) each tallied three goals while Hack and Murphy both added multiple assists.

Athenas Throttle Poets, Claim 20-4 Victory

April 18, 2018

The Athenas scored early and often en route to a 20-4 victory over the Whittier Poets on Wednesday night on Zinda Field. The convincing win for the No. 22 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s lacrosse team locked up sole possession of their fourth SCIAC Championship in program history. CMS scored 15 goals in the opening half including 10 goals in the first 9:32 of the game to start the running clock for the remainder of the contest. A total of 13 different players scored in the game for the Athenas.
