Five Stags and Team Recognized by ITA for Academic Success

Five members of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s tennis team were selected as Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar Athletes for the 2017-18 season. As a team, the Stags were recognized with the ITA All-Academic Team award.
Four Stags Earn All-America Honors Following 2018 Season

Late last week, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced their Division III Men’s Tennis All-America Teams. The Stags were represented with a pair of individuals and two doubles teams. Nikolai Parodi (CMC) highlighted the honors, earning All-America honors as an individual and making up half of both CMS doubles teams named. The Stags top doubles pair of Parodi and Julian Gordy (CMC) earned the national honors as well as the team of Parodi and Jake Berber (CMC). After finishing as National Runner-Up in the individual competition, Jack Katzman (CMC) capped off his freshman campaign with an All-American nod.
CMS has another record year in the Directors’ Cup standings

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athletics is ranked third in the 2017-18 Division III Learfield Directors’ Cup standings, the program’s highest finish ever. This is the second-straight year that CMS has finished in the top-5 in the country.
Katzman Finishes Freshman Campaign as National Runner-Up

Jack Katzman’s run through the NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis Singles Championships came to an end on Saturday morning in the National Championship Match. Katzman finished his freshman season as the runner-up to Bowdoin’s Grant Urken, who earned a straight-set victory over Katzman by a 6-3, 6-2 final.

In just his freshman season, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps’ Jack Katzman (CMC) is heading to the Individual National Championship on Saturday afternoon against Bowdoin’s Grant Urken. A pair of three-set victories on Friday, moved the unseeded Katzman into the Championship Match. Katzman’s appearance in the Individual Final marks the fifth-straight year that a Stag has appeared in the match.
Parodi and Katzman Advance to Individual Quarterfinals

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s tennis team sent two individual representative through to the quarterfinals on Friday in the NCAA Division III singles competition with Nikolai Parodi (CMC) and Jack Katzman (CMC) both winning their first two matches of the tournament. The doubles team of Parodi and Julian Gordy () were also in action this afternoon, but suffered a tough, 6-4, 3-6, 6-0 loss in the opening round to end the 2018 doubles slate for the Stags.
NCAA Run Halted By Chicago in the National Quarterfinals

The 2018 campaign came to an end for the No. 5 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Stags in the National Quarterfinals on a cool and damp Friday afternoon with the Stags suffering a 5-2 loss against the University of Chicago Maroon. CMS ends their season with a 30-4 overall record, a SCIAC Championship, and their ninth-straight appearance in the National Quarterfinals.
Stags Slated to Begin National Championships at Home

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's tennis team is making their ninth-straight trip to the National Quarterfinals after defeating No. 15 Trinity (TX) 5-1 at the NCAA Regional Tournament last weekend. The Stags don't have to travel far, as this year's National Championships are hosted by CMS at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center. The final eight teams standing include the top-five ranked teams in the country, as well as three more ranked in the top-20.
Men's Tennis Clinches Spot in Ninth-Straight NCAA Elite Eight

With a 5-1 victory over the No. 15 Trinity (TX) Tigers on an overcast Saturday afternoon, the No. 5 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's tennis team advances to the NCAA Elite Eight on May 21 at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center. For the second time in as many days, the Stags used strong doubles play to build a 2-1 lead, and then added three straight set singles victories to secure the win. CMS, who defeated Trinity in the 2017 West Regional Final as well, has now advanced to nine straight NCAA Elite Eights dating back to 2010.
Stags Begin NCAA Tournament Run at Home

The No. 5 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Stags earned a bye through the First Round of the NCAA Tournament thanks to a stellar 2018 season that saw CMS go 28-3 overall and win the SCIAC Championship. In addition to their First Round bye, the Stags earned hosting duties at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center for the opening weekend. As a result, CMS will welcome No. 31 UC Santa Cruz, No. 29 UT Tyler, and No. 15 Trinity (TX) to Claremont for the Second and Third Rounds of the NCAA Tournament.
No. 5 Stags Top Banana Slugs, Move to Saturday's Regional Final

The No. 5 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's tennis opened the 2018 NCAA Tournament on Friday afternoon with a 5-1 victory over the UC Santa Cruz Banana Slugs in the Second Round. The victory moves CMS into the Regional Final on Saturday afternoon against Trinity (TX), a 5-3 winner over UT-Tyler in the other Second Round match. CMS will face Trinity for the second time this season, having defeated the No. 15 Tigers in the opening round of the ITA National Indoor Team Championships in February.
CMS Claims 10th-Straight SCIAC All-Sports Trophy

For the 10th-straight year and 30th time in program history, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athletic Department claimed the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s Combined All-Sports Trophy. The Athenas earned 94 points this season and won the All-Sports Trophy on the women’s side by a 19-point margin, claiming their eighth-straight and 23rd overall. The Stags finished third in the standings on the men’s side with 65.5 points. Pomona-Pitzer won the men’s All-Sports Trophy.
Men's and Women's Tennis Selected to Host NCAA Regionals

On Monday morning, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) released the brackets for the Division III Men’s and Women’s Tennis National Championships. On both the men’s and women’s sides, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps has been chosen as a host site for Regional competition. In addition to hosting the National Championships at the Biszantz Family Tennis center from May 21-26, the venue will host men’s and women’s Regional play this weekend.
Parodi Leads Four Stags on All-SCIAC First Team

On Friday morning, the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced their end of season awards for the 2018 men's tennis season. Among the honorees were four Stags on the First Team, including the SCIAC Athlete of the Year, Nikolai Parodi (CMC). In addition to the individual accolades, CMS was named the SCIAC Sportsmanship team. The first such honor in program history.
Stags Handle Sagehens, Claim 13th Consecutive Outright SCIAC Title

The top-seeded Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's tennis team claimed its 13th consecutive outright conference title with a 5-1 victory over No. 11 Pomona-Pitzer in the final of the SCIAC tournament on Saturday. CMS extended its conference win streak to 124 matches and enters the NCAA tournament with a record of 28-3 overall and 9-0 in SCIAC. NCAA selections will be made on Monday, with the first three rounds to begin on Friday.
