Robinson, Hao, Mareedu Move on To ITA Regional Quarterfinals in Singles

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Matthew Robinson, Michael Hao and Advik Mareedu advanced through to the ITA West Regional quarterfinals for the CMS men's tennis team on Friday at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center.

Robinson and Christian Settles also advanced through to the doubles quarterfinals with a pair of convincing 8-2 wins.

Hao had the most drama on the day, as he took the first set 6-4 against Darvel Lossangoye of Cal Lutheran, then dropped a tight tiebreaker in the second set 7-5. The third set tiebreaker went all the way to 15-13, with Hao saiving six match points. 

Once he was safely through, he turned it up to another notch in the second round, beating No. 7 seed Kush Patel of Pomona-Pitzer 6-3, 6-0 in the second round. He will match up in tomorrow's quarterfinals with Andrew Kaelin, who edged Ian Habbestad 10-5 in a third-set tiebreaker in the first round. 

Robinson earned 6-0, 6-4 and 6-1, 7-5 wins in singles, while Mareedu was remarkably efficient in earning 6-2, 6-2 and 6-2, 6-1 victories. 

Tomorrow's action will get started at 8:30 a.m. with doubles, as Robinson and Settles will look to keep advancing and make it through to Sunday's finals,
