Biszantz Family Tennis Center to Host ITA West Regionals This Weekend

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Biszantz Family Tennis Center at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps will serve as the host site for the three-day Intercollegiate Tennis Association West Regionals, which will take place from Friday-Sunday.

CMS and Pomona-Pitzer will both host matches for the three-day regionals, which will be split between Biszantz and Pomona College's Pauley Tennis Complex and Rogers Tennis Complex, before Sunday's finals are held at Biszantz.

On the men's side, singles will open play at 11 a.m. on Friday, with the Stags boasting the top three seeds. Matthew Robinson of the Stags earned the top seed, first-year Advik Mareedu is the second seed, and Christopher Li is seeded third.  CMS also has Christian Settles, Ian Habbestad, Warren Pham, Michael Hao and Morgan Schilling in the A flight, a 32-player field. 

In doubles, Robinson and Settles are the top seed, opening play at 8:30 a.m. First-year teammates Mareedu and Pham, who played together at Valencia High School before joining the Stags, are the No. 5 seed, and Schilling/Habbestad and Hao/Li are also among the 16 entrants. 

Women's singles will take place in the afternoon at 1:30 p.m., with defending national champion CMS having five of the top eight seeds. Lindsay Eisenman will be at No. 3, Ella Brissett, No. 4, Katherine Wurster No. 5, Sena Selby No. 6 and Audrey Yoon No. 8. Gabby Lee, Devon Wolfe, Arushi Malik, Alisha Chulani and Olivia Almy are also in the 32-player field in the A flight. The second round will take place at 5 p.m., as the field will be reduced to the final eight quarterfinalists for Saturday's action. 

The women's half gets started with doubles on Friday morning at 8:30 a.m. Chulani and Wolfe are the No. 2 seed, Eisenman and Lee are No. 4, and Brissett and Yoon are No. 7. Almy/Malik and Selby/Wurster are also among the 16 teams in the A flight. Two rounds of doubles will also be played on Friday, leaving the semifinalists still active on Saturday, with the finals on Sunday.
