They say that a great piece of art is one you wish you had never seen, if only to relive the experience of your first encounter. Scripps sophomore Lauren, however, will soon be reliving the pre-race butterflies of a CMS freshman: after an unfortunate incident involving a large hill and her own inability to count, Lauren was injured for all but two races last season. Some things she has yet to experience include Mother Hill, a Bonelli 8-hard, and the PPXC invite. In preparation for all these things, Lauren stayed in Claremont for the summer, where she ran both alone and with Melanie; studied neuroscience by making fish brains become transparent and fluorescent; and started learning how to cook. She now feels quite ready for the upcoming season.
