Maddy Menard Takes SCIAC Women's Water Polo Defensive Player of the Week

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Maddy Menard was named the SCIAC Women's Water Polo Defensive Player of the Week for games through Sunday, March 27, the conference office announced today.

Menard had a season-high seven steals as CMS took a 7-3 win over Redlands on Saturday, while helping to hold the Bulldogs to only three goals on the day (and 0-5 on 6-on-5 chances). She added two more steals in a 10-8 loss to CSU Northridge, completing a day in which she had nine steals and five assists.

The Athenas have now captured five SCIAC honors so far this season, including three Offensive Player of the Weeks and two Defensive Player of the Weeks. Christina Kulick has earned the top offensive player twice, while Mia Adsen earned it once. Dara Schoolcraft has also captured the Defensive Player of the Week for the Athenas as well.

CMS will be back in action on Monday afternoon, when it battles Brown for a 5 p.m. contest at Axelrood Pool. The Athenas will then return to league play on Wednesday night, with a home game against Caltech.
