Brooke McKee Earns SCIAC Offensive Player of the Week Award for CMS Volleyball

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Brooke McKee of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps volleyball team earned the SCIAC Offensive Player of the Week Award for matches through Sunday, Oct. 8, the conference office announced today.

McKee had 35 kills in three CMS straight-set wins, but it was the timeliness of those kills that made her stand out. She had nine kills in pressure situations, including seven in a 27-25, 25-16, 26-24 win over La Verne on Tuesday.

In that contest, McKee had two straight kills with CMS down 24-21 in the first to fight off two set points, and then had the set-winning kill up 26-25. In the third set, meanwhile, she had kills on the last four CMS points after the score was tied 22-22, including back-to-back kills with the score 24-24 to finish off the win.

On Saturday, McKee was once again big as Whittier threatened CMS in the first set. She broke a 24-24 tie with a kill, and then had another kill with Whittier up 26-25 to wipe out a set point, before the Athenas went on to take it 29-27.

CMS will be back in action tomorrow when it travels to Caltech for a 7 p.m. contest.
