CMS Volleyball Aims for Perfect Regular Season on Senior Day

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The CMS volleyball team, the only undefeated team left at any level of NCAA volleyball, will try to end its first perfect regular season in program history when it hosts La Verne on Saturday at 4 p.m. at Roberts Pavilion.

It will also be Senior Day for the Class of 2023, as Sonia Bliss, Spencer Hagenbuch and Jackie Jones will be honored before the match for their contributions to a team that has rolled off a 56-2 record since returning from the pandemic, and 83-6 in their three full seasons of competition.

As the team prepares to to cap off a perfect regular season before turning its attention to the SCIAC and NCAA Tournaments, we paid a little tribute to the senior class. Summer Ellis and Izzy Sakoda are also part of the original Class of 2023, but currently plan to return next year to use their final season of eligibility, but we included them as part of the original class that they would have walked out with, had there been no pandemic.

Opening serve against La Verne is at 4 p.m., and the Athenas will return to action at Roberts Pavilion for the SCIAC Tournament, with the semifinals on Thursday at 7 p.m. and the championship on Saturday if they advance.
