Brenna Bell Captures SCIAC Offensive Player of the Week Honors for CMS Volleyball

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Brenna Bell of the top-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's volleyball team earned the SCIAC Offensive Player of the Week for matches through Sunday, Oct. 9, the league office announced today.

Bell continued her exceptional junior campaign with another efficient week, hitting .473 over three matches from the outside, including .611 against Caltech, and .533 against Pomona-Pitzer, as the Athenas hit the midway point of the conference schedule at 8-0 without dropping a set. She had double digit kills in all three matches, and put the ball down on 60 percent of her swings (33 of 55), while also adding five blocks against the Sagehens.

Bell's .421 hitting percentage is the highest in the nation among outside hitters (only people above her are middles) and almost 100 points higher than the best single season for an outside hitter in CMS history (Margaux Arntson - .340).

CMS will be back in action tomorrow night when it travels to Redlands for a 7 p.m. contest, and will then return home to face Cal Lutheran on Friday night at 7 p.m. at Roberts Pavilion in a battle between the two top teams in the SCIAC standings.
