Jenna Holmes Earns SCIAC Offensive Player of the Week Honors

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Jenna Holmes earned the SCIAC Women's Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week honors for matches through Sunday, Sept. 4, the conference office announced today.

Holmes was named to the All-Tournament team at the Pacific Coast Classic after leading CMS to a 4-0 weekend without dropping a set. She had three double-doubles, and had her top effort against No. 7 NYU with 21 kills in 42 attempts to go along with 11 digs.

In the few pressure situations that CMS had, Holmes came up big to help keep CMS perfect in sets this season. She had kills for the 25th, 26th and 27th points in a 29-27 third-set win against NYU, and also had a kill at 23-23 in the second set against UC Santa Cruz in the opener on Friday (a 25-23 CMS win).

After the 4-0 weekend, CMS moved into the top spot in the national rankings for the first time since winning the national title in 2017. The Athenas came into the new year ranked No. 2, and moved up a spot after Wisconsin-Eau Claire, the defending national champions and preseason No. 1, fell to Trinity.

CMS will next be in action at the East-West Classic at Emory this weekend, facing Johns Hopkins on Friday and then Trinity and Emory on Saturday. A year ago, CMS and Trinity met when the Tigers were ranked No. 1 and CMS came up with the big 3-1 win, and then beat No. 2 Emory later on that same day.
