Athenas win in three vs. Rose Hulman

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's volleyball team beat Rose Hulman Institute of Technology 3-0 on Friday afternoon.  The Athenas captured a win to set up for the evening matchup against Caltech.

In the first set, CMS took an early 11-5 lead and retained it for the rest of the game.  The Athenas went on two-four point runs while junior Megan Coleman and freshman Quinn Morrison were serving.  CMS won the set 25-18.

The Athenas started the second set slowly but finally tied it up at 17. After a few blocks by Morrison, CMS took the lead.  Rose Hulman fought back and forced the game to go to 26 points before the Athenas scored the last two points and take the set 28-26 on a service ace by sophomore Tanner Hoke.

Led by freshman Nicole Kerkhof with five kills, CMS won the third set 25-19 and finished off the match.

Senior Regina Mullen had a team high 15 kills while Coleman totaled 11 digs.

CMS travels to Caltech to play the Beavers this evening and then hosts La Verne tomorrow (10/19) at 6pm.
