Athenas Win DMR, 4x800 at Annual Rossi Relays

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's track and field team saw the 4x800 and the distance medley each finished in first place at the annual Rossi Relays at the Burns Track Complex on Saturday, with the 4x800 team setting a new program record.

Riley Capuano, Sally Gaskell, Laura Zimmer and Natalie Bitetti earned first in the 4x800 with a 9:04.89, which took almost 20 seconds off the old record of 9:2248 which had held since 2015.

Capuano and Zimmer were also part of the winning DMR, along with Shriya Velichala and Elle Marsyla, as the quartet finished with an 11:59.61. 

Josephine Jett ran a 14.93 to take six-hundredths of a second off her previous best time of 14.99. Georgia Rogers was second in the high jump with a clearance of 1.52 meters. 

CMS will be back in action when it competes at the first SCIAC Multi-Dual at Occidental on Saturday.
