Bio

Michael O'Connor enters his second season as an assistant coach with the CMS women's soccer program in 2023, working primarily with the team's goalkeepers, while also adding the additional role of serving as the program's recruiting coordinator. 

O'Connor has partnered with new CMS head coach David Nolan at his last two stops, most recently at William Jessup University in 2020-21, where he helped his team to an 11-game unbeaten streak and the program's first-ever postseason berth.

Prior to joining Nolan at William Jessup, O'Connor served as the goalkeeper coach at Pomona-Pitzer from 2017-19, where Nolan was serving as the associate head coach. During his final season in 2019, the Sagehens reached the national semifinals, the best finish in program history. The team's starting goalkeeper, Isa Berardo, was voted the NCAA DIII Goalkeeper of the year and a first-team All-American, while starting starting forward Bria VarnBuhler was the DIII National Player of the year.

Outside of the collegiate ranks, O'Connor has also served as a goalkeeper coach for San Clemente Surf Soccer club, Desert United soccer, Arsenal Soccer Club, and Spartans Soccer Club.

O'Connor grew up in Riverside, California and played goalkeeper at La Sierra University, before graduating from the Art Institute of California with a degree in audio engineering. He holds a D National License and Level 2 Goalkeepers United Soccer Coaches License.
