CMS Women's Soccer Earns Scoreless Tie at Pomona-Pitzer

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Sadie Brown had nine saves as the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's soccer team picked up a big road point against first-place Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday afternoon at Pomona-Pitzer Soccer Stadium.

With the tie, CMS moves to 5-4-4 on the season and 3-2-3 in conference, while Pomona-Pitzer remains undefeated in conference play as it moves to 8-1-2 overall and 5-0-2 in SCIAC.

Tori Holden and Emma Fogg each had second-half shots on target as the Athenas tried to steal the 1-0 win, earning three corner kicks after halftime but both were saved by Pomona-Pitzer goalkeeper Taylor Kane. Brown had six of her saves in the second half to earn a hard-fought clean sheet.

The Sagehens had a bid for a go-ahead goal hit the crossbar at the end of the first half, but the Athenas were able to dodge the bullet. Brown finished the game off with two saves on shots from Hannah Hong in the final five minutes.

CMS has a week off before it returns to action on Saturday to take on Cal Lutheran for a 5 p.m. contest at Pritzlaff Field.
