CMS Women's Soccer Sees Six-Game Unbeaten Streak Snapped at Cal Lutheran

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - Katie Weaver and Avery West scored second-half goals as the Cal Lutheran women's soccer team snapped a six-game unbeaten streak (3-0-3) for Claremont-Mudd-Scripps with a 2-0 win on Wednesday evening at Rolland Stadium.

With the loss, CMS slips to 5-5-3 overall and 3-2-2 in the SCIAC, while Cal Lutheran improves to 7-4-1 and 4-1-1 in league play.

Cal Lutheran held a 14-10 edge in shots, as Caelyn Smith and Emma Fogg led the Athenas with three shots apiece, with Smith having two of hers saved by Logan Duford, who finished with three saves to get the shutout.

Duford's second save on Smith came in the 83rd minute on a bid to tie the game, and just over a minute later, West sealed it with an insurance goal to make it a 2-0 final.

CMS will be back in action on Saturday when it travels to meet Pomona-Pitzer for an 11:30 a.m. contest.
