Sherry, Manthouli Sweep SCIAC Weekly Awards for CMS Women's Soccer

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Senior forward Ava Sherry and junior goalie Athena Manthouli earned the SCIAC Offensive Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week awards, respectively, the league office announced today.

Sherry and Manthouli helped CMS pick up a pair of wins last week as it improved to 3-0 on the young season. Sherry had a hand in three of the four CMS goals on the week, scoring the game-winner against Whittier on Wednesday an even 4:00 into the contest, and adding an assist just over a minute later to make it 2-0 less than six minutes in. She then had the assist on the game-winning goal from Kaitlyn Helfrich in a 1-0 road win over UC Santa Cruz on Saturday. 

Manthouli did not allow a goal on the week, picking up a four-save shutout in the win over UC Santa Cruz. She also added a save against Whittier, playing 85 minutes before coming out of the game and sharing the shutout with Taylor Levinson. 

CMS remained perfect on the season with the two wins as it heads into SCIAC play this week. The Athenas will travel to Redlands on Wednesday for their first conference game of the year, and then return to Pritzlaff Field to host La Verne on Saturday night at 7 p.m.
