CMS Soccer Teams Sponsor 3-on-3 Tournament for Grassroot Soccer

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The spring may be the non-traditional season for collegiate soccer programs, but the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's and women's soccer teams have used that time to be active in the local community, recently organizing a 3-on-3 tournament with 100 percent of the proceeds supporting Grassroot Soccer.

Over 30 students and faculty members from across the five colleges participated in the event, playing round-robin matchups followed by an elimination bracket to crown the eventual champions. The event lasted roughly two and half hours and raised $1,550.

Grassroot Soccer is an international adolescent health organization that educates, inspires, and mobilizes young people to overcome their greatest health challenges and live healthier, more productive lives. Grassroot Soccer's work in Southern Africa and throughout the world connects at-risk young people with the mentors, information, and health services they need to thrive, and empowers adolescents to make educated choices about pressing health challenges such as HIV/AIDS, sexual health, gender-based violence, and malaria.

To date, Grassroot Soccer has reached more than 2 million young people in 50 countries. Every $25 raised empowers one young person with life-changing health and life-skills programming as well as access to Grassroot Soccer's world-class Caring Coaches.
