Women's Soccer Ties With La Verne

The Athenas (4-2-3, 2-1-2 in SCIAC) tied the La Verne Leopards (0-6-1, 0-4-1 in SCIAC) at home.

The Athenas started out slow early in the game, giving up a goal to La Verne in the 42nd minute of play.  Just 17 seconds later Rachel Bunting (SO, Eugene, OR) dribbled along the line and slotted the ball to Olivia Sylvester (SO, Seattle, WA) who scored the tying goal. The score remained tied until the 57th minute when La Verne scored making it 2-1. The Athenas came back eight minutes later and found the net. Madi Shove (FR, Portola Valley) scored a beautiful goal from a pass from Rachel Bunting. With neither team able to find the go ahead goal, the game went into overtime.  Despite out shooting the Leopards 28 to 10, the game ended in a draw

On Saturday at 1:00pm, the Athenas will take on Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens at Pomona-Pitzer. Additionally, they will be playing the Alumni on Sunday October 3rd at 10:30am at the Sallie Tiernan Field House on the Scripps campus.
