Six Athenas Earn Academic Honor Roll Accolades from IWLCA
CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's lacrosse team had six players earn Division III Academic Honor Roll distinction from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association, the organization announced today.
Graduate student Ainsley Basic, seniors Emma Merk and Catherine Murphy and juniors Taylor Daetz, Chloe Klein and Holly Shankle were the six members of the Athenas who captured academic honors from the IWLCA.
Basic attended Claremont Graduate University for the last two years and earned her master's in business administration. Merk missed her senior season due to injury after earning second-team All-SCIAC accolades as a junior, and graduated from Claremont McKenna this spring with a degree in environmental analysis.
Murphy also earned second-team All-SCIAC honors this past season for the Athenas, and graduated from Claremont McKenna with a dual major in government and international relations.
Daetz earned second-team All-SCIAC accolades this season as well and enters her senior year next year at Claremont McKenna, where she majors in economics. Klein attends Scripps College, and will be heading into her senior year next year as a biochemistry major. Shankle, who majors in biochemistry at Claremont McKenna, will be going into her senior season in 2025 as well.
Student-athletes who are juniors, seniors or graduate students with a GPA above a 3.5 are eligible for the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll. The Athenas also earned Academic Honor Squad honors as a team for having a combined GPA above a 3.2.
