Kendall Chapko Earns SCIAC Defensive Player of the Week Honors
CLAREMONT, Calif. - Kendall Chapko of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's lacrosse team earned SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week honors for events through Sunday, April 28, the league office announced today.
Chapko did not allow a goal in 45 minutes of work as CMS closed out the regular season with wins over Occidental and Chapman, both of which qualified for the SCIAC Tournament. She came on at the half of a 10-7 game against Chapman and did not allow a goal the rest of the way, making four saves as the Athenas pulled away to conclude the regular season on a high note.
Chapko joins Cate Lewison, a two-time SCIAC Offensive Player of the Week recipient, as winners for the Athenas in 2024, after CMS finished with a 10-2 SCIAC record. Lewison also won the Defensive Player of the Week once last year.
The Athenas will be back in action on Wednesday when they host Chapman again in the SCIAC Semifinals, which will be held at Zinda Field. Tickets are free for students with ID from a SCIAC institution, but others may purchase through TicketLeap: https://sciac.ticketleap.com/chapman-at-cms---2024-womens-lacrosse-tournament/
