Seven Athenas Earn Recognition on IWLCA Honor Roll

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Seven members of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's lacrosse team earned spots on the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Division III Academic Honor Roll, the organization announced today.

The IWLCA honored 964 student-athletes from 173 different institutions on the 2023 IWLCA Division III Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater. 

The seven players representing the Athenas on the list included graduate student Ainsley Basic, seniors Grace Johnson, Emme McMullen and Abby Parrish, and juniors Rachel Leonardi, Emma Merk and Catherine Murphy

Basic joined the Athenas this year and is pursuing her master's degree in marketing. Johnson (marketing) and Parrish (biology/ethics) graduated from Claremont McKenna this may, while McMullen finished her degree at Harvey Mudd in mathematics and politics. Leonardi (economics/psychology), Merk (environmental analysis/literature) and Murphy (government/international relations) will be back next year as seniors to complete their double majors at Claremont McKenna. 

CMS had a 13-5 record in 2023 and a 9-2 mark in SCIAC, reaching the league title game for the sixth season in a row, a span in which it has compiled a 54-5 league record.
