CMS Women's Lacrosse Closes Out Regular Season with Dominant Win over Redlands

REDLANDS, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's lacrosse team led 12-0 after the first quarter, 17-0 at the half, and went on to take a 24-4 win over Redlands in its regular season finale on Saturday.

With the win, CMS stands at 12-4 overall and 10-2 in the SCIAC as it heads into the conference tournament this week. Redlands ends its season at 4-12 overall and 2-10 in league play. 

Grace Minturn led CMS with four goals, while Bella Lynch and Amelia Ulmer each had three. Lynch also had three assists, as did Emma Merk, while Cate Lewison had two goals and two assists. 

Taylor Daetz had the opening goal, which was followed by two Lynch goals 30 seconds apart to make it a 3-0 game just 1:50 into the contest. Jessica Sloan-Cooper then tallied the fourth goal of the game, which was followed by goals from Catherine Murphy, Daetz, Lewison, Emme McMullen, Minturn, Lynch and Lewison again, as CMS effectively spread the scoring around. 

In the second quarter, Frances Anderson found the net, followed by Ulmer, back-to-back goals from Ainsley Basic and one from Hannah Conte. Abby Parrish netted two in the second half for the Athenas as well. 

CMS will be back in action when it meets Chapman at home on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. in one of two SCIAC Semifinals, which will be held at Zinda Field at 7 p.m.
