Carey then knotted it up a second time at 2-2 just over a minute later on a free position shot, and the Athenas would lead 16-2 in the third quarter before George Fox could find the net again.

Catherine Murphy gave CMS the lead for good 19 seconds after Carey tied it, and then the Athenas buried the Bruins under an avalanche with five goals in a span of 1:22. Rachel Leonardi started that run with a free position goal at the 3:56 mark, Futterman scored off the draw control 15 later, and then fed Taylor Daetz for a goal off the next draw control 16 seconds after that with 3:25 on the first quarter clock.

The closest that the Sagehens have come to tasting defeat came at Zinda Field on April 9, when CMS and Pomona-Pitzer went to overtime before the Sagehens prevailed 16-15.
