McKenna Likins Earns SCIAC Defensive Player of the Week Award for CMS Women's Lacrosse
CLAREMONT, Calif. - First-year defender McKenna Likins captured the SCIAC Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week award for games through Sunday, March 13, the league office announced today.
Likins was part of a defensive effort that produced a shutout as the Athenas defeated Cal Lutheran 22-0 on Wednesday. She led CMS with five caused turnovers, while adding four ground balls and an assist, helping CMS hold the Regals to only four shot attempts on the day. She now leads the Athenas with 12 caused turnovers on the year, well ahead of her closest teammate with seven.
The honor for Likins gives CMS a SCIAC award winner for the second week in a row, after Alex Futterman captured the Offensive Player of the Week honor following a 12-goals-in-two-games performance in wins over Occidental and Redlands.
CMS will be back in action this evening, when it takes on Illinois Wesleyan in its first non-conference game of the year, starting at 7 p.m. at Zinda Field.
