Alex Futterman Earns SCIAC Offensive Player of the Week Honors for CMS Women's Lacrosse

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Senior midfielder Alex Futterman captured the SCIAC Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week for games through Sunday, March 6, the league office announced today.

Futterman captured the award after two big scoring days in a 2-0 week for the Athenas. She scored a career-high seven goals, passing her previous high of five set in her collegiate debut in 2019, in a 22-8 win over Occidental, as CMS rolled past a team it beat just 10-9 in the last meeting two years ago. She then followed that up with five goals as the Athenas earned a 22-3 win over Redlands to push their winning streak to three.

On the week, Futterman totaled her 12 goals on only 15 shots, as she converted on 80 percent of her attempts. She scored seven times on nine shots in the Occidental win, and then five goals on six shots in the Redlands win, missing only one on a goalie save.

CMS will be back in action on Wednesday when it entertains Cal Lutheran in a SCIAC contest, looking to extend its winning streak to four games.
