CMS Hands Redlands First Loss Of The Season

The Athenas scored the first goal with an assist from Madi Shove to Sarah Dick at 28:16. Fellow senior captain Molly Murtaugh (pictured) also helped in the scoring effort of the first half.  Murtaugh assisted Dick and also dished the ball to Ali Abramovitz on another goal at 12:54.  The Bulldogs played tough and both Jacky Craycraft and KK McCaslin were able to net hat tricks against the CMS defense. However, Dick and Murtaugh's efforts on the offensive end allowed the Athenas to lead by four at the end of the first thirty minutes 11-7.

The Bulldogs made a strong campaign and outscored the Athenas in the second half 9-6.  CMS scored the opening goal of the first thirty minutes on a free position shot from freshman Bayley Mullan.  After another goal by Dick, the Bulldogs went on an unanswered scoring streak of four goals brining the score to 13-11 in favor of the Athenas.  The game was brought to the closest score of the night when Redlands, Aimee Dewan, scored with 5:23 left and decreased the gap in score by one, 16-15.  Madi Shove answered back and regained the Athenas' two goal lead.  With 1:05 left on the clock Redlands' Craycraft, made it a one goal game again.  Although the effort was there from the Bulldogs, the Athenas were able to maintain possession to complete the win.

Notable efforts were made in the midfield by Kaitlyn Desai who handled four ground balls and came down with four draw controls.

Dick led the attack with 8 goals.  Shove also posted an impressive 5 goals on 6 shots and one assist. Molly Murtaugh finished the game with three assists and two ground balls.
