CMS Women's Golf Finishes Third at SCIAC No. 2

POMONA, Calif. - Playing a young line-up of three first-years and two sophomores, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's golf team ended up in third place at the second SCIAC regular season tournament on Saturday and Sunday at Mountain Meadows Golf Course.

CMS finished with a two-day total of 606 (+46) to come in third, 20 shots ahead of Occidental in fourth. Redlands came in first with a 589, while Pomona-Pitzer was seven shots back in second with a 596. 

Esther Lee was the top individual finisher for CMS, tying for seventh at +9 over the two rounds, finishing four shots behind the leaders. First-years Jessie Kong and Emily Zhou tied for 11th, as Zhou had the best round of the weekend for the Athenas with a 73 on Sunday, including a -3 over the front nine. 

Sophomore Ella Chiu and first-year Christine Yu both tied for 17th, out of the 35 competitors in the field, as all five Athenas were in the top half. 

CMS will be back in action for the SCIAC Championships in three weeks, which will be held from April 28-30 at Los Serranos Golf Course in Chino Hills.
