Stella Cheng, Irene Jun, Jeissy Lee Earn WGCA All-American Scholar Distinction

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Stella Cheng, Irene Jun and Jeissy Lee of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's golf team earn spots on the All-American Scholar team from the Women's Golf Coaches Association for the 2022-23 season.

To earn a spot on the WGCA All-American Scholar team, a student-athlete must have an overall GPA of 3.5 or higher and have played in at least 50 percent of a team's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.

Cheng, Jun and Lee were all part of the five-golfer contingent that competed in the postseason for the Athenas this year. Lee earned first-team All-SCIAC honors, while Cheng and Jun were chosen to the second team. Cheng also added second-team WGCA All-America honors to her postseason accolades.

CMS ended up tying for third at the NCAA Division III Championships for the second year in a row. Cheng ended the CNAA Championships tied for 11th on the individual leaderboard, while Lee (29th) and Jun (56th) also finished high up in the 152-golfer field.

In addition to the success at nationals, CMS also captured the three-round SCIAC Championship in April at Olivas Links with a -8 score over 54 holes, winning by seven strokes. Jun finished fourth on the individual leaderboard, while Cheng was seventh and Lee was ninth.
