Grace Lu Wins Individual Medalist Honors at SCIAC No. 2 for CMS Women's Golf

GolfStat Scoring

POMONA, Calif. - Grace Lu was the highest individual finisher at the second SCIAC regular season tournament, finishing with a 150 over 36 holes at Mountain Meadows Golf Club to win by two strokes.

Lu took a one-shot lead after Saturday's opening round with a 73, shooting four birdies on the day, and held off several challenges on Sunday to win the event, finishing two strokes ahead of Andrea York of Redlands (+6 to +8). Her 73 proved to be the lowest round for any competitor in the field on either day, as York's 74 was the low round on Sunday.

After a steady front nine at one-over on Sunday, Lu had a brief hiccup on the 10th and 11th holes, as she gave up three strokes and briefly fell out of the lead. However, the steadied herself with six straight pars, and with the course playing difficult (Lu and York were the only players to finish higher than 11-over), the pars were enough to create some distance between her and the field as her challengers slipped back.

Redlands won the team title by a substantial margin (18 strokes) over Pomona-Pitzer. CMS had only two golfers available to compete (Lu and Elena Anderson) and wasn't eligible for the team standings, since a minimum of four are required.

CMS will be back in action in two weeks for the SCIAC Championships, which will be held April 24-26 at Tukwet Canyon.
