CMS Women's Golf in 12th after Second Day of Jekyll Island Invitational

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's golf team moved up two spots to 12th place after the second of three rounds at the Jekyll Island Invitational on Saturday.

CMS shot a 303 on Saturday, a day after ending in 14th place with a 310, and the Athenas now stand at +37 with one round left to play. Emory leads the 24-team field after shooting its second straight 289 to stand at +2 over 36 holes.

Rylee Suttor of Centre College is atop the individual leaderboard at -7, while Sarah Hsu of Oglethorpe (-4) and Sharon Mun of Emory (-3) are also in the red.

Stella Cheng is the top Athena at +5, which puts her in a tie for 20th, as she has been steady with 29 pars on her first 36 holes. Jeissy Lee shot a team-best 73 on Saturday to move up 13 spots into a tie for 29th at +6, birdieing the second and third holes in succession to get off to a quick start, and adding another birdie on 17 to close on a high note. 

The third and final round will begin tomorrow morning as CMS will try to move further into the top half of the 24-team field with a strong finish.
