CMS Women's Golf Finishes Tied for Third at Westbrook Invite

PEORIA, Ariz. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's golf team finished in a tie for third place in a close battle between seven ranked Division III teams at the Westbrook Invite at the Lakes, hosted by George Fox University.

George Fox, ranked No. 5 by the Women's Golf Coaches Association, earned the team title with a 596, three shots better than No. 9 Redlands. The 11th-ranked Athenas and No. 18 Trinity ended just eight shots off the lead with a 304. 

Grace Lu finished in fourth place on the individual leaderboard with a 147, following up a solid 74 yesterday by shooting one shot better today with a 73. Stella Cheng was one shot behind with a 148 in a tie for fifth, after shooting 74 for the second straight day. Irene Jun also had a 74 on Sunday, as she moved up into a tie for 12th with a 150. 

Lexi Onsrud of Illinois Wesleyan finished at -2, the only player in the field to shoot in the red over the 36 holes. Makensie Toole of George Fox finished at even par to come in second place. 

CMS will be back in action this weekend, when it travels to Georgia to compete at the Jekyll Island Invitational.
