CMS Women's Golf Earns WGCA All-Scholar Team Award

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's golf team earned an All-Scholar Team Award from the Women's Golf Coaches Association, the organization announced today.

The Athenas earned the honor by finishing in the top 25 in team GPA among all NCAA Division III institutions. CMS had a 3.683 grade point average during the 2019-20 academic year, which placed 18th in all of Division III and first among SCIAC schools.

Earlier this summer, CMS had four of its individual players capture All-America Scholar distinction from the WGCA as well, including junior Emily Attiyeh, sophomore Tiffany Hu and first-years Grace Lu and Noelle Song. The Athenas also had eight student-athletes on the SCIAC All-Academic team, which was announced last week, which also included senior Taylor Hughes, sophomores Shreya Chatterjee and Rebecca Chan, and first-year Elena Anderson

CMS ended the year ranked No. 8 in the nation in Division III as it looked to earn its way back to the NCAA Division III Championships. The Athenas ended last year in fourth place at nationals, after winning the program's first-ever national championship two years ago in 2018.
