CMS Women's Golf Stands in Second Place after First Round of SCIAC No. 1
SAN DIMAS, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's golf team is in second place after the first of two rounds of the first SCIAC regular season championship, shooting a 310 after 18 holes at Via Verde Golf Club in San Dimas.
Redlands holds a seven-shot lead with a 303, led by a 69 from Hannah Jugar, who takes a two-shot lead on the individual leaderboard into the second day. CMS is in second at 310, while Pomona-Pitzer is in third place at 315.
First-year Grace Lu led the way for CMS after the first round with a 75, putting her six shots back and in a tie for third place with Taylor Beckwith of Whittier. Abby Euyang of Pomona-Pitzer stands in second place with a 71 (-1) after 18 holes.
CMS also had consistent showings from its other players as well, with junior Emily Attiyeh, first-year Noelle Song and sophomore Tiffany Hu (playing as an individual) all carding 78s. First-year Lucy Bloomstran also scored for the Athenas with a 79 on her first round.
The second round of the championship will get underway tomorrow morning at 10 a.m., as the Athenas will try to make a move on the second day of the tournament to earn first place after the first of two regular season tournaments.
