PRESCOTT, Ariz. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's golf team is in second place out of 12 teams after the first two of three rounds were played at the Embry Riddle Co-Ed Invitational on Monday at the Antelope Hills North Golf Course.

Host Embry Riddle has a big lead at +19, with CMS in second place at +48. The Athenas are 10 shots ahead of Ottawa University in third place and 22 ahead of Arizona Christian in fourth.

The three top Athenas are all in a three-way tie for eighth place with a two-round 155 (+11). Senior Emma Kang shot a 75 in her second round to pull even with first-years Grace Lu and Noelle Song, who each shot 77s in the second round after opening round 78s.

First-year Lucy Bloomstran is also in 13th place out of 48 golfers with a 159 after two rounds, giving CMS three rookies in its top four.

The third and final round of the Embry Riddle Invitational will take place tomorrow at Antelope Hills, which will be the final round for the Athenas during the fall semester before resuming their schedule in the spring. CMS came in fourth place in the NCAA Championships a year ago, after winning the program's first-ever national title in 2018.
