CMS Women's Golf Up Eight Shots after First Day of SCIAC #2

VENTURA, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's golf team is up by eight shots on Redlands, behind a three-under 69 from sophomore Emily Attiyeh, after the first of two days of the second SCIAC regular season championship at Olivas Links.

The Athenas, who have won all four of the events they have been in during the spring season, shot a 296 (+8) on the day, while Redlands is eight shots back with a 304. Pomona-Pitzer (313), Whittier (316), Cal Litheran (319) and Chapman (320) are all lurking behind hoping to make a run on the second day.

Attiyeh's 69 (-3) was the low round for any SCIAC golfer in all of the 2018-19 season. She is three shots ahead of Annie Hay of Redlands on the individual leaderboard, who shot an even-par 72.

Junior Emma Kang shot a 74 to stand in fourth place for the Athenas, while sophomore Mira Yoo is in a tie for fifth place at 75. Senior Kelly Ransom and freshman Amy Xue each had a 78 to tie for 13th place.

The second day of SCIAC #2 will take place tomorrow at 12 noon as the Athenas will try to finish in first place for the fifth time in their five spring events.
