Ransom and Bhat make WGCA All-American Scholars list

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's golfers, Kelly Ransom (CMC) and Maya Bhat (CMC), both have garnered Women's Collegiate Golf All-American Scholar honors, as announced by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) on July 5. The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics according to the WGCA. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50. All told, 828 women's golfers across all levels of college golf received the honor.

This is the first such honor for both Ransom and Bhat. Just two other women's golf programs in the SCIAC had representatives on the All-American Scholar Team.

During the 2016 season, Ransom had an impressive freshman campaign as she was CMS' top finisher at each of the three conference competitions, including a fourth place finish at the SCIAC Championships. Bhat also led the way for the Athenas for a tournament in the spring, the UCSC Invite.
