Annual showdown against Pomona-Pitzer goes to CMS
CHINO HILLS, Calif. – In the annual Claremont Colleges women's golf showdown between Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and Pomona-Pitzer, CMS came away with a resounding 37-stroke victory over its rival on March 29 in the one-round Walker Cup at the Los Serranos North Golf Course to retain the trophy.
CMS finished at 20-over par on the par 72 course with a team score of 308. CMS had several golfers who were part of the team score of 308 and several who competed as individuals.
Sophomore Taylor Kain-Godoy (CMC) tied with Pomona-Pitzer's Tiffany Gu as the event medalist, as each shot 3-over par scores of 75 to lead the field. CMS sophomore Lindsay Slocum (CMC) finished one stroke back with a 76 to finish in third. Sophomore Liberty Ramsey (SCR) and freshman Margaret Loncki (CMC) finished tied for fourth with Pomona-Pitzer's Jennifer Kim, three strokes off the pace with a 78.
Other competitors for CMS were freshman Maya Bhat (79), senior Marissa Suehiro (80), senior Shaina Raskin (81), junior Caroline Belmont (81) and freshman Rosie Kepple (95).
On April 4-5, CMS takes on the rest of the conference in the SCIAC #2 Tournament at Upland Hills for its next tournament.
