Stiff competition at Torrey Pines for women’s golf

LA JOLLA, Calif. – The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's golf team traveled to La Jolla to play in the Pt. Loma Fall Preview Golf Classic played at Torrey Pines Golf Course. Up against tough competition, the Athenas shot well but finished last in the field of Division I, II, and III teams.

Tiffany Su recorded the low rounds for CMS at 81 and 83. Shaina Raskin finished second on the team shooting 82 and 86. Taylor Kain-Godoy competed as an individual in the tournament and also finished with a 168 total for both days (rounds of 83 and 85). In her first collegiate outing, Cara Brinster finished third on the team with two consistent rounds of 85.

Sonoma State, Dallas Baptist and Cal Baptist topped the field.

After the first tournament of the year, head coach Jodie Burton said the "effort was outstanding" but the Athenas were just a little rusty.

CMS plays in their only other fall tournament in Prescott, AZ for the Embry-Riddle Invitational on Sept. 28-29.
