Four new members were inducted into the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athletics Alumni Association Hall of Fame at the 2018 Hall of Fame Banquet and induction ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 10. The ceremony was held at Claremont McKenna College's Marian Miner Cook Athenaeum, marking the 28th Hall of Fame induction class at CMS.

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athletics is ranked third in the 2017-18 Division III Learfield Directors’ Cup standings, the program’s highest finish ever. This is the second-straight year that CMS has finished in the top-5 in the country.

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s basketball graduated its largest class ever in 2017 with six players, four of whom were starter, leaving the Athenas. Not to be outdone by their predecessor, the 2017-18 edition of CMS Athenas basketball took off running in route to one of the most successful seasons in school history.

For the 10th-straight year and 30th time in program history, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athletic Department claimed the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s Combined All-Sports Trophy. The Athenas earned 94 points this season and won the All-Sports Trophy on the women’s side by a 19-point margin, claiming their eighth-straight and 23rd overall. The Stags finished third in the standings on the men’s side with 65.5 points. Pomona-Pitzer won the men’s All-Sports Trophy.

It was a fitting end to the SCIAC women's basketball season. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and Chapman finished the regular season tied with identical 15-1 conference records. Their only losses coming to one another during a regular season series split. So it was fitting that the two heavyweights duked it out for 40 minutes of regulation and then two overtime periods in the SCIAC Tournament Championship. When the dust settled, the Athenas were on the wrong end of a 70-61 decision.

On Thursday morning the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) released their All-Conference women’s basketball team. Among the 13 student-athletes named to the All-Conference teams were a trio of Athenas. Senior Kailee Severt (CMC) and sophomore Maya Love (CMC) earned First Team accolades while senior Corinne Bogle (CMC) was honored on the Second Team.

The top-seeded Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s basketball team edged the No. 4-seeded University of Redlands Bulldogs 69-65 on Thursday night to advance to their fifth-straight SCIAC Conference Championship Game on Saturday. Kate Parrish (CMC) led the Athenas with 16 points off the bench and Corinne Bogle (CMC) dropped 15. Maya Love (CMC) continued to dominate at both ends of the court, notching her 13th double-double of the season with 11 rebounds and 10 points.

With a victory against Chapman over the weekend, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s basketball team claimed a share of the SCIAC Championship. The Athenas and Panthers finished the regular season tied on top of the SCIAC Standings with a 15-1 conference record. A coin flip following the final game of the season gave the Athenas the top seed heading into this weekend’s tournament. No. 1 CMS will host the No. 4 Redlands Bulldogs on Thursday night in Roberts Pavilion at 7:00 p.m.

Huge Lead Helps Athenas Claim Share of SCIAC Championship

Needing a victory over Chapman on Saturday night to claim a share of the 2017-18 SCIAC Championship, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s basketball team played some of their best basketball of the season for the first three quarters to build a massive, 56-30 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Despite a late push by the Panthers, CMS held on down the stretch for the 67-58 win.

Kate Parrish (CMC) was unstoppable off the bench tonight in Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s basketball’s win over the Whittier College Poets. The freshman dropped 20 points on an 8-12 mark from the field and a perfect 4-4 effort from the free throw line. She had a strong defensive presence as well, stuffing three Whittier shots and grabbing five boards in the 69-42 victory.

She's On Fire! Severt Pops Off for 28 in Sixth Street Showdown

Two and a half minutes was all Kailee Severt (CMC) needed to turn Thursday’s Sixth Street rivalry game on its head. The Athenas held a 34-31 lead at the end of the first-half, but Severt knocked down four threes in the first two minutes and change of the second-half to quickly give CMS a comfortable lead. After the three-point barrage, the Athenas cruised to the 76-51 victory over the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens. Severt led all scorers on the night with an ultra-efficient, 10-13 shooting performance for 28 points in just three quarters of play. The senior did not appear in the fourth quarter as the Athenas already held a 62-47 lead heading into the final period.

Love Leads Athenas Over Regals in Dramatic Finish

With just seconds on the clock and the Athenas trailing by one, Maya Love (CMC) battled her way through the lane and finished a layup to give Claremont-Mudd-Scripps a 52-51 victory over the visiting Cal Lutheran Regals. The layup from Love was a fitting way for the Athenas to get their game winner. The sophomore finished the night with 19 points and 16 rebounds in a thrilling victory for CMS.

Athenas Battle Back, Grind Out Win Over Tigers

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s basketball team trailed for a majority of the first-half against Occidental on Saturday night, but came from behind to grind out a 67-55 victory. Gloria Bates (CMC) turned in a career-high 18 points off the bench to help lead the Athenas to their 11th SCIAC victory of the season. Maya Love (CMC) collected her 10th double-double of the season. She finished Saturday’s game with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Corinne Bogle (CMC) joined Love and Bates in double-figures, tallying 10 points on the night.

Women's Basketball Outlasts Scrappy La Verne Squad in Overtime

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s basketball team overcame a nine-point halftime deficit to defeat the La Verne Leopards 80-77 in overtime on Wednesday night. The Athenas used a balanced scoring effort to complete the victory with Corinne Bogle (CMC) leading the offense with 19 points. Bogle also grabbed 14 rebounds for her first career double-double. Ellery Koelker-Wolfe (CMC) also completed her first career double-double with an impressive 13-point, 18-rebound effort on the evening. The victory improves the Athenas to 17-3 overall and 10-1 in the SCIAC.
