
Relay Teams Sweep for Stags Track and Field at UC San Diego
SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's track and field team split into three different competitions this weekend, with the sprinters heading to UC San Diego, where they won both relay events.
The 4x100 relay team of Quincey Williams, Christian Campbell, Nick Teresi and Joshua Martinez finished first in a time of 41.11, just .02 off their own program record.
Martinez ran a 14.66 in the 110-meter hurdles to place third among collegiate competitors, setting a new PR and moving him closer to the program record of 14.59, which was set by William Fulton in 1991. Campbell was fifth in the 100 with a 10.59.
The 4x400 relay team also too first with Campbell, Teresi, Williams and Jamie Cockburn finishing in 3:14.33, just .21 ahead of Mesa CC in second.
Ellis DelVecchio came in seventh in the 800 meters with a 1:54.07. Teresi was 10th in the 200 with a 21.90, with Williams right behind in 22.05.
At the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational, Henry Pick came in second with a 3;52.74, less than a second short of winning. Daniel Krasemann finished fourth and Hayden Beauchemin was fifth, while Oliver Pick added a top-10 finish in eighth.
Yesterday at the Whittier Twilight meet, several CMS throwers were in action, with Sarath Kakani, Ian Osborne and Jacob Yep finsihing 1-2-3 in the shot put, as Kakani took first with a throw of 49'8.25". Jason Bowman added a win in the hammer throw at 159'4" for the Stags.
CMS will next be in action as a team when it competes at the third SCIAC Multi-Dual at home at the Burns Track Complex on Saturday.
