CMS Men's Tennis Earns 9-0 Win over Cal Lutheran

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's tennis team won all six singles matches in straight sets as it earned a 9-0 win over Cal Lutheran on Saturday at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center.

With the win, CMS moves to 13-4 on the year with its sixth victory in a row, as well as moving to 4-0 in SCIAC, which stretches its winning streak in SCIAC-sponsored matches to 148 in a row (142 regular season, six postseason tournament) since 2006. 

Advik Mareedu and Warren Pham cruised to an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles - their fifth straight as a pair - and then followed with quick singles wins, with Mareedu earning his 21st win at No. 1 (6-2, 6-2) and Pham winning his sixth straight and 14th of the season at No. 5 singles (6-2, 6-1). Ian Freer provided the clinch at No. 3 with a 6-1, 6-3 victory, after prevailing in a tiebreaker at No. 2 doubles with Morgan Schilling. 

Matthew Robinson and Christian Settles won 8-5 at No. 1 doubles, and went on to earn comfortable singles wins as well, with Robinson earning a straight set win at No. 2, and Settles following with his third singles win in two days at No. 4. Daniel Blackman was pushed at No. 6, but prevailed in a straight-setter 7-6(3), 6-4, his second straight win at the back half of the lineup.

CMS will be back in action on Wednesday when it travels to Division II Azusa Pacific for a 2:30 pm. contest.
