CMS Men's Tennis Opens Play at ITA Cup Thursday Morning

CLAREMONT, Calif. – Matthew Robinson and Christian Settles will be the No. 2 seed in doubles when the ITA Cup gets underway on Thursday from the Rome Tennis Center in Rome, Georgia.

Robinson and Settles captured the ITA West Regional title over Matthew Feng and Eshaan Lumba of Pomona-Pitzer, earning All-America honors (Settles has now won All-America distinction at two different institutions after previously winning in doubles at Trinity University). They will open play at 3:30 p.m. (Pacific time) against another West Coast qualifier, Lars Schmassmann and Rox Rogers of George Fox.

Also winning an ITA West title and earning All-America honors was Advik Mareedu in singles, who won the regional title without dropping a set. Mareedu will open play at 7 a.m. (Pacific time) against Luke Westholder of Luther College, with the winner facing either third-seeded Thomas Yu of Johns Hopkins or Emil Grantcharov of Chicago in the quarterfinals, which will take place at 11:30 a.m. (Pacific time).

Mareedu defeated Caleb Wilkins of Chapman in the final, who is in the opposite side of the bracket, meaning the only possibility of an All-SCIAC rematch would be in the finals on Saturday.
