Marino named SCIAC Athlete of the Week

PASADENA, Calif. – Nikolas Marino was named SCIAC Athlete of the Week after he went 4-0 in singles and doubles as the Stags beat both UC Santa Cruz and Pomona-Pitzer 5-1 to advance to the NCAA Quarterfinals. Marino partnered with Zhenya Pereverzin to win 8-4 at #3 doubles in both matches. Playing at #3 singles, he won 6-0, 6-0 against Santa Cruz and 6-4, 6-3 against Pomona-Pitzer. Marino is 23-3 in singles and 17-3 in doubles this season. He will compete in the field of 32 singles players at the NCAA Championships next week.  CMS is 28-1 overall.

The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference was established in 1915. The league is currently comprised of nine private colleges and universities in Southern California: California Institute of Technology, California Lutheran University, Chapman University, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges, University of La Verne, Occidental College, Pomona-Pitzer Colleges, University of Redlands, and Whittier College. The conference recognizes outstanding athletic achievements of its student-athletes on a weekly and annual basis.
