Matazzoni Captures SCIAC Diver of the Week Honors

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Bennet Matazzoni of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's swimming and diving team earned the SCIAC Diver of the Week honor for events through Sunday, Jan. 15, the league office announced today.

Matazzoni swept both boards in a dual win over Redlands, marking his first two collegiate victories. He took the one-meter dive with 266.45 points, edging teammate Ethan Sattley by 2.15, and then won the three-meter with 246.60 points, a margin of 13.4.

Matazzoni becomes the third different Stag to win the SCIAC Diver of the Week honor, and the sixth for the men and women combined. Cyrus Gaylord and Jack Griffith have also earned it for the Stags, including Griffith for the second time last week, while Makenna Parkinson (twice), Izzy Doud (twice) and Emma Ng Pack have won for the Athenas. 

CMS will be back in action in 10 days for its final regular season conference event, a tri-meet at Cal Lutheran, which also includes La Verne.
